HONEY TREATS The humectant properties of honey nourish and moisturize the skin. You can use honey on both face and body. In Thailand, where it is produced under royal patronage in the north of the country, honey has traditionally been used to cover open wounds in order to soften scar tissue and encourage the growth of new skin.
For the Face:For astringent purposes, combine honey with a squeeze of lime juice and massage into damp skin. Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water to leave it feeling soft and peeled. If you like a coarser texture, mix honey with coarse oatmeal. For the Body:Mix 1 cup of honey, 1/2 cup sesame seeds and a sprinkling of dried herbs such as lavender or mint. Rub the thick, sticky paste sensually over your body. Luxuriate in the process absorbing the sweet aroma. Take your time, giving the skin time to properly exfoliate. Finish with a warm shower for an invigorating body treatment.Mix equal parts of honey and dead sea bath salts for a luxurious exfoliation. Honey seals in the moisture and the salts leave your skin feeling smooth as silk. Adapted from The Tropical Spa |
